Barry served 20 years as a C-130 mechanic in stations all over the world . He rose to the rank of MSGT and retired in 1976. He was very modest, but when pressed, would tell some amazing stories …. He contracted malaria after being stationed in Africa, and spent years in the jungles of S.E. Asia, as he said, ‘patching up bullet holes’ in C-130’s —– He was stationed in small bases where ‘they weren’t supposed to be ‘ along the Ho cHI Minh trail. He was exposed to Agent Orange many times, as were thousands of men and women. He just recently was approved for 100% disability from agent orange — almost 50 years too late. The C-130 (google it) has been in production for more than 50 years– and is currently flown by 72 countries around the world. In 1978 , Barry started a 21 year career with Lockheed in Fort Worth, building F-16’s — The F-16 Fighting Falcon was first produced in 1976, and over 4,500 have been built. The F-16 serves in the Air Forces of 25 nations wordwide and is still being built at the Fort Worth plant today. Yesterday morning “The sound of Freedom” echoed across the Fort Worth skies and I looked up to see two F-16’s racing across the skies — undoubtedly saluting BARRY. Last night at the service for Barry I talked to a Lockheed engineer who worked in UAE for 9 years —– He does, in fact know and praised “Marian” — the female Major F-16 pilot who is NOW dropping bombs on the ISIS terrorists. The reason we are all still free and in fact, able to write on Facebook, is because of the Thousands of BARRY’s quietly serving this Great and Glorious country in bases around the world, and building the planes and weapons that are necessary to keep us FREE. Please take a moment to stop and pray for one the greatest men I know…
